The Nature of Sound

Two sound fields.
One performance.

Nature makes sound in two ways at once – a Common Mode pressure field and a Differential Mode sound field. Conventional audio only ever captured the first. Molecular Acoustics captures, extracts and reproduces both, from earbuds to arenas.

Common Mode – the translational sound field audio has always used Differential Mode – the rotational sound field it left behind

The Principle

After two decades in acoustical physics, one conclusion.

Founder Klaus Kaetel – Dipl.-Ing., four decades in electroacoustics – concluded that every natural sound source generates two basic field types. Capturing only the common mode field strips away information the ear uses to place instruments and voices in real space. The whole of Molecular Acoustics is a single idea applied at three points in the audio chain.

Common Mode

The translational field

The straight line vector component every microphone and speaker has captured for a century. Essential, well understood – and only half of what the source actually radiates.

Differential Mode

The rotational field

The rotational sound velocity vectors that characterize the true nature of a sound source. Molecular Acoustics is built to record it, derive it, and radiate it – deliberately kept separate from capture to playback.

Explore by Function

One principle, three moments in the chain.

Capture records both fields at the source. Extract derives the Differential Mode from the recordings the world already has. Reproduce renders both fields together, in any form factor.

Explore by Market

The same chain, crystallized for four industries.

Capture, Extract and Reproduce recombine differently for each application. Choose the lens that matches your world.

Grounded, not just claimed

A patent-anchored portfolio, from a working DSP architecture.

The reproduction and capture hardware is protected by granted US patents; the extraction layer is patent-pending, granted already in first jurisdictions. The signal chain is specified to block-diagram level – not concept marketing.
