Record the sound field nature actually makes – a Common Mode translational component and a Differential Mode rotational component on three axes, captured simultaneously by one compact unit.
The Triple Microphone Unit
Conventional microphones are designed to record translational sound fields only. The Triple Microphone Unit records the rotational sound field as well – in a single head, converging toward a common point so it can detect the rotation of the three-dimensional sound velocity vectors themselves.
Three diaphragm pairs on three axes, combined in one compact head, spaced under 2 cm and converging on a common point.
Summing each pair in phase yields the conventional pressure signal on that axis.
Inverting and summing derives a Differential signal per axis: Diff-x, Diff-y, Diff-z – the rotational sound velocity information pressure capture discards.
The same unit outputs first-order Ambisonics (W, X, Y, Z), so existing pipelines work from day one. The differential channels stay separate from capture to playback – never collapsed into one mix bus.
